Two weeks ago a 17 year old passed away from a neighboring city from surgery complications and a tumor. The classmates asked us to host a pizza party in his honor. We did and about 60 youth came to sing, pray, join in fellowship and eat yummy pizza! Pizza is a rare thing in Mexico so they thought it was special to get to eat it! Rebecca made the pizza in their wood-oven pictured here.

Every Tuesday night at about 6pm is Bible study. There we lead worship, have time of testimonies or giving thanks to God, and study the word. While the adults are doing Bible study, we take the kids out and perform a skit of an Old Testament Bible story. Last week was of Abraham sacrificing Isaac. The kids love the skits and get so excited to watch us act out a story, and this way we can tell the bible stories in order.

Big thanks to Spring Valley and Ashley Haisma for collecting baseball gloves for the kids here in Las Glorias. Many of the kids here love baseball and they need gloves. I was able to tape the reaction of these sisters, Eimy and Alondra (9 and 7 years old) with their very first softball gloves. Eimy (pronounced like the name Amy) says "Now I have a glove and a ball!!!" I practiced softball with them the very next day

Las Glorias is primarily a fishing village, so the Coults usually get to eat fresh shrimp, fish, and calamari. The first picture is fresh shrimp and the second picture is of Hailey and Jeremias “cleaning” calamari. I also wanted to show some pictures of what the storm Odile did to the beach just a little while ago.

In terms of ministry, things are progressing. On October 25 we took the youth group to a youth conference in Guasave. There we sang, our group performed a rap that showed why we should follow God, and listened to speakers. Then they prayed over everyone. It was an effective way to get the youth excited for God and to encourage worship.
Our group has a healthy group of boys that usually come but a lot less girls. So we have been praying for the girls in Boca del Rio (a town nearby) and have been trying to get to know them a bit from playing softball. Friday we told girls to come to youth group and thankfully three did on Saturday morning! During this meeting we played foosball, played another game, had brunch, then I gave my testimony! Continued prayer to reach more girls and to see more commitment to God would be much appreciated!

I arrived in Mexico Thursday afternoon with the Coult family (Doug, Rebecca, Andrew and Evie) and Hailey, an 18 year old girl from California that is doing the same thing as me. The Coult’s oldest daughter, Sarah, lives here in Mexico in the same house but in February she will marry a Mexican! Jessee, their 18 year old, lives here but his twin brother Seth lives in the States. Jeremiah also lives here, he is a 20 year old from southern Mexico, receiving discipleship from Doug.

Friday night Hailey and I attended our first youth group meeting and it was cool to see. First we played volleyball, then went into the building in the back which is the youth room and sang songs. The youth group leader, a man from the surrounding village, led the Bible reading and discussion centered around John 16. There were about 5 male youth and one other female attending other than the Colt family. They had been praying for more females to attend, so they told Hailey and I that we were an answer to their prayers so they are glad we can set an example to the other girls of the village.

It is very hot here at about noon, but when dusk comes, it’s a sure bet the mosquitoes will come too! So we try to stay indoors when the sun goes down. In Michigan the mosquitoes can be fierce, but here they are worse, but that’s only because we are just coming out of the rainy season in Mexico. They aren’t always this bad. Thankfully they don’t bite me as much but my roommate Hailey has many red bumps on her legs L

I really like it here. I’ve been trying to use Spanish with the locals that come to hang out, and the Coults answer any questions I have. I really see the Coults doing the work of God here and it’s awesome to be a part of that.

Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for checking out my blog, I hope it is the first of many visits! I wanted to set this up as a way to communicate with my supporters (you :D) whom I appreciate very much! Join me on my missionary journey to Sinaloa, Mexico. I hope that we can pray and encourage one another as we diligently follow the Way. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" -John 14:6
